President and founder of Cheney Appraisal Services, Linda Cheney, has proven her commitment to completing assignments of all sizes with the same level of personal involvement, knowledge, and professionalism. Selected large engagements include an appraisal of the Salmagundi Club's permanent collection of 900 works of American art as well as a contemporary artist’s estate appraisal of 1140 works for estate tax purposes. Both projects began with a detailed and professionally photographed catalog to support curatorial and marketing objectives.
Over the years she has visited countless homes to appraise personal property for individuals for insurance, estate and resale purposes. Items include general household contents such as fine art (paintings, prints and sculpture), furniture, silver, ceramics, Oriental carpets, antiques and other collectibles.
USPAP* Compliant
Ms. Cheney completed her Certificate in Appraisal Studies in Fine and Decorative Arts from New York University. She continues to take appraisal course work at NYU and the Appraisers Association of America to enhance her connoisseurship of fine and decorative art and to keep abreast of all IRS regulations and industry standards. She has successfully completed a 15-hour course and examination on the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).
Experienced in banking
Ms. Cheney brings business acumen to the appraisal practice developed in a twenty-year career in sales and marketing within the financial services industry. Ms. Cheney knows the importance of managing and reporting assets prudently with integrity and attention to details. She holds a BA in Economics and Fine Art (specializing in printmaking) from Bucknell University and an MBA in Marketing from Pace University. Ms. Cheney is a member of the Appraisers Association of America and the American Alliance of Museums.
